Creating Effective Sponsorship
2015 AICPA Women’s Global Leadership Summit
Hilton San Francisco Union Square
San Francisco, CA

HORNE Executive Partner Joey Havens, CPA, CGMA, and Healthcare Partner Katherine G. Watts, CPA, CHC, will join MLBennett Consulting Executive Mary L. Bennett, MBA, CIA, CEC, and panel as they discuss Creating Effective Sponsorship at the 2015 Women’s Global Leadership Summit presented by AICPA.

Sponsorship is one of the most significant differences in the career navigation experiences of men and women in the accounting profession. Senior male leaders more naturally gravitate to the sponsorship of emerging male leaders due to a sense of affinity. Research has shown us that women have much less access to effective sponsorship, which impacts career progression to leadership roles. Lack of sponsorship creates years of micro-inequities that are not conscious in many cases but are very real and very powerful. In this session, two firms will discuss effective sponsorship programming currently happening in their organizations. They will share why they invest in these efforts, how they obtained buy in and nuances of their approaches to this critical strategy essential in the effort to impact the progress of women in the profession. Participants will also learn elements of effective sponsorship and how to be a fully participating protege in ways that can attract the possibility of future sponsorship relationships.
